"A trip to A&E at East Surrey"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I attended with chest pains and cannot think of a single thing that could have made this a better experience than it was. From reception to physician via cleaners, nurses, a phlebotomist, a radiographer and porters everything was superb.

This was in a week when the front page of the Metro screamed that conditions in A & E were worse than a war zone. I'd call that unhelpful but frankly untrue and spectacularly unfair to the team who work together to make so complicated an endeavour operate so smoothly.

Dear huppopapa

Thank you for you posting such a positive story about your treatment in the Accident & Emergency department here at East Surrey Hospital. It is quite a thing to read that you can't think of a single thing that could have made your experience any better and that everything was "superb".

I havent read the specific Metro article you refer to, but the reality is that despite the significant pressure the department here has been under we are continuing to provide high quality, safe care to our patients and doing so in a way that patients such as yourself recognise.

I will ensure that colleagues in the A&E department see your kind words and I know they will be delighted to read your comments.

Kind regards

Ian
