"What happened to my 84 year old father?"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My father was admitted to Milton Keynes Hospital in February 2009 with ulcerated and infected legs due to his diabetes. This was after having the condition for over four weeks, and his GP not taking action promptly enough in my opinion.

While under the care of the staff at MK General, he had several falls one of which broke his arm and wrist. His broken arm was left undiagnosed for 15 hours - It took me to diagnose this. Directly after this incident he was found by my wife dehydrated and as it would turn out suffering with a heart issue. In my opinion, the ward was dirty. The Nurses that treated my father on that particular ward did not seem to care.

My father was having hallucinations and uncontrollable twitches. I feel that they did not ensure that he drank and ate his food. From what I saw, they did not supervise the taking of his medication. It seemed to me that his doctors conspired, along with some of the nurses and I feel the responses to my complaints were frankly insulting. I believe they operated on a target driven basis and not a level of care. My father almost died while in their care.
