I visited A&E one summer evening with severe abdominal pain, having visited a walk in centre earlier in the day who told me to go to A&E if the pain worsened. We waited about 2 hours to be seen, which I thought was pretty good for a packed A&E room! The doctors were very good, deciding what was wrong and they gave me multiple pain medicines. Their code of practice told them to discharge me and send me for a CT scan the next day, but I was in so much pain that they kept me in overnight. The staff were quite polite - although I did get told off for being sick onto the floor (which obviously never happens in a hospital!) so that was not pleasant. After the scan, the wait for a doctor to see the results was so long that I eventually asked a doctor visiting another patient, who chased up the results for me. Not brilliant speed for a hospital but mostly very good service.
"Good service, am grateful"
