"Left feeling distressed and disrespected."

About: Wycombe Hospital

Today I had an appointment with a Dr from neurology. Sadly I left the hospital feeling worse than when I went in. The nurse was great, she politely informed me that the Dr was behind and I was in next. It was 20 minutes late but that is short compared to what I'm used to at Wycombe Hospital so didn't think much of it. However when I walked in to see the Dr he was so rude and disrespectful it really shocked me. The first thing he said was "I have seen you before haven't I, you are a lost cause what am I going to do with you"! I didn't know how to react. He wasn't joking, and even if he had been it was completely unprofessional. He hadn't even asked me what was wrong or read my referral. I did say "thank you you are making feel so much better" and got the reply "I'm not trying to make you feel better". Not trying to make me feel better! My family and I have experienced some appalling treatment from Wycombe hospital and Stoke Mandeville recently, but to hear the Dr say that today was enough for me. I will be contacting the Patient Liaison Service about a complaint. However after experiencing this process before I don't hold up much hope of another complaint dealt with internally changing anything for the better. I have a life long medical condition that has been treated in Wycombe Hospital for 27 years. Things have progressively been declining with care in the last 5 to 6 years. Last year however my consultant told me that because so many staff had left it might not be safe for me to continue using the equipment I use to stay alive. I'm still using the equipment and receiving some kind of support, but really do not feel safe in the hands of Buckinghamshire NHS Trust.
