"My experiences of the Emergency Department, A9 and A12"

I was admitted after a 5 hour wait in a&e. Once into a cubicle, the staff couldn't have been more lovely.
Then I was admitted to a9 ward. Here I was promptly seen by a doctor despite the fact it was the middle of the night, and my consultant first thing in the morning. I cannot praise the team of doctors that looked after me well enough to throughout my whole stay.
But then there were some staff on A9 That didn't believe me if I said I was in pain. They make you feel like your an addict if you ask for a stronger pain relief, even if in my case I had tried the alternatives without any effect. There were other peopel on the ward that seemed to be in the same situation.
On a12 the hca's could not have been more attentive. They work so hard despite real pressures. It's just such a shame that the same can't be said for some of the nursing staff, the majority of them would only come to my bed to give me tablets. The rest of the time they were too busy elsewhere. The role seems to have completely changed to what it was years ago when I remember being a patient.
Put more nurses on the ward and I would like to think you would be able to see them actually caring for people much more, rather than filling out paperwork at the desk.
