After my 7 year old son trapped his finger in the car door I rang 111 to find out what I needed to do. They advised me to take him straight to A&E to which I did. Arrival time 6.40pm. We saw 2 nurses over a period of 3 hours due to staff change over and I asked them if we could bandage him up at home but they insisted that the doctor did it so I thought fair enough at least I know he’s being looked after. So we sat and waited to see the doctor, eventually we were called and I think it was a triage nurse that attended to him and all she did was put a plaster on him!! What an absolute joke. He was asleep on my knee while the drunks rolled in and we got out of there at 10pm, no consideration that there was a 7 year old in there! It was an absolute disgrace. I have since been advised that the A&E at Wigan has a little ward for children to ensure they are looked at straight away. Fingers crossed I don't need to use A&E again but if I do I will be trying Wigan and give Chorley a very wide birth.

Thank you very much for providing your feedback; I'm sorry to hear of your son's experience. Whilst staff do take the needs of children into consideration and to try to ensure that they are not kept waiting, it is evident from your feedback that your son's experience was not one that we would want for any child attending either of our Emergency Departments. I have shared your comments with senior staff in the department; however, if you would like to discuss your concerns in person, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Care department on 01772 522521,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us of your son's experience, which, I'm sorry to hear was not of the standard we would aim to provide to all children attending the Emergency Department. Please be assured that your comments have been shared with senior staff in the Emergency Department.
