The whole experience of the trust's maternity services through pregnancy to decision by consultant last week for elective c.section has been amazing. At a time the NHS is under constant pressure and media scrutiny this trust's service proves why our healthcare service is worth the government's investment and support. Due to previous surgeries I was extremely nervous about going into theatre again, however my consultant was thorough, reassuring and I trusted her completely. The theatre team were awesome, anestheisit equally reassuring and made the whole experience much easier. When my baby boy arrived the midwives kept me fully informed and quickly got him to me. On the ward, coping with c section discomfort, and a whole new world with a baby, it was challenging to say the least. Only with the never ending patience, care, advice and support from the midwives over three days was I able to overcome the anxieties and tiredness of being a new mum. In particular the night midwife was my saviour that first evening and early hours! When they were extra busy, as all NHS services are - let's be realistic, the midwives informed me if they may be a little longer than usual which is fair enough and reassured me. Thank you to both teams at lancaster and helm chase, you really were awesome and made the whole experience very positive. I am now home enjoying my beautiful baby boy xx
