"Recent trip to A&E resus, MAU and Ward C2"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

Firstly, I am a healthcare professional and my standards are ridiculously high. Especially when it is a member of my family that is unwell! My Mum was admitted to A&E resus on Friday 9th Jan 2015, The care was simply brilliant. Mum was treated and stabilised and all of the staff were really friendly and reassuring. Mum was then moved to the MAU, where again the care was excellent and in my experience of MAU, a bay with same sex and 4 beds. Unheard of but exactly how it should be. The staff on ward C2 were excellent and I have to commend a Staff Nurse for her caring, compassionate and good humoured approach to nursing. My Mum was treated promptly and effectively, resulting in what was a threat to her life being a pleasant experience and a relatively short admission to hospital. I can only thank and praise Blackburn Royal Hospital for the improvements that have been made, it really is noticeable.

Dear Anonymous Many thanks for your lovely feedback on your experience of our Emergency Department at Royal Blackburn Hospital, the MAU and the C2 wards care for your mother and thank-you for taking the time to do so. I will make sure your appreciation is passed onto all of the teams concerned who will be very pleased to hear that your recent experience with us was really positive as we always strive to deliver safe, personal & effective care. All of our staff work hard to provide this care even when we're really busy and coping with a lot of demand, so it is really pleasing to hear this compassion in care and practice being so evident in the care for your mother. If you would like to talk through your visit to us with one of our Patient Experience team so we can understand the bits of your experience that made this such a good visit for you we would really value this so that we can try to make it like this for every patient visiting our hospitals and services. You can either contact me (Wendy Stobbs) on 01254 734471/ 01254 733704 or email me on wendy.stobbs@elht.nhs.uk. Or if you would like to share your experience in confidence with an independent organisation please contact Healthwatch BwD on 01254 504985 or info@healthwatchblackburnwithdarwen.co.uk Many thanks again for taking the time to comment, and best wishes to your mother for a continued recovery Wendy Stobbs, Patient Experience Facilitator
