About: Lanarkshire Community Services University Hospital Wishaw / Rheumatology

(as the patient),

I was recently referred to the O/T Rheumatology Team at Wishaw General Hospital for help with early arthritis joint symptoms and fatigue management.

I received a very high standard of care, support and advice. The O/T took time to listen and understand my issues and I also had input from a senior member of staff regarding a more complex matter.

The staff were very understanding and knowledgeable and provided me with very good advice, information and equipment to help me.

Thank you for your positive feedback regarding your recent Occupational Therapy treatment in Lanarkshire.

Rheumatology conditions can markedly affect an individual's ability to perform everyday activities of daily living, and on their ability to engage in work and leisure activities. I am delighted that you feel that any areas of particular concern were addressed by the Rheumatology team, and that you were supported in an empathetic and person centred way.

It is important to occupational therapists that you get appropriate advice and information from an early stage, as this will help to maximise independence, prevent joint deformity, and assist with fatigue or pain management., Your personal thanks is very much appreciated by the team, and will be a great help to other patients who are in a similar situation.
