"Complex medical problems not understood"

About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill) / General surgery

(as a relative),

I took my mother who has complex healthcare issues to see the oral surgeons at Kings-the dentist we saw was great but as my mum needs a general anaesthetic and is high risk we were asked to go to the pre-assessment service.

We saw a lady in a blue sisters outfit. She was quite nice but did not really understand any of the medical problems and I had to explain them. She ordered tests and wanted to do blood tests but my mum has a blood disorder and doing tests many weeks in advance is pointless. She clearly had a list to work from but no real clinical judgement. Her badge stated that she was a dental nurse which I understand is not the same as a registered nurse.

Asking someone to do this kind of thing without the right skill or experience seems very risky.
