My partner had an eye condition for most of 2014 and was due to have his final consultation regarding this condition on 3 Dec 2014. His appt was 1pm and at approx 2.15 after a lengthy wait and no information as to why and after a conversation with the nurse in charge of ward 23 on that day we decided to leave. After being persuaded by the nurse in charge and being told the doc was on his way we decided to see the doctor, who arrived at approx 2.30 pm When I asked the doctor why he was late he said his clinic didnt start until 2 pm which I queried with the nurse who was with us in the consulting room, she told us that the clinic started at 1 pm and showed me the clinic sheet which confirmed this. The doctor quickly confirmed that my partner's eye condition had been stabilised, however he then went on to have a look at the glaucoma in his eyes and said that the pressures were extremely high and issued him with a perscription which I later found out was very harmful to his eyes (he has plastic lens x 2 as a result of catarract surgery) and insisted that we return for a follow up on 18/march & 1/4/15. Not only that But he wrote to my partner's GP who immediately issued another presciption for a similar product almost immediately. My partner was by now in a highly distressed state as he was under the care of the Friarage Hosp for his glaucoma and at no time was allowed to explain this to the doctor at DMH on 3/12/14. My partner confirmed that the medication he had been prescribed for a number of years was entirely adequate and that the pressures had not altered significantly from his previous visit to the Friarage. My partner will not be returning to see this "doctor" either on 18/3/15 or 1/4/15 and I expect this message to be relayed to Ward 23
