About: West Cornwall Hospital (Penzance)

On 30th December 2014, I was referred to the Urgent Care Centre in Penzance by a GP surgery from St.Just after I had twisted my right ankle twice during a hike around Lands End (2nd time was while on my way down from the coast). Being in West Cornwall only for the New Year's Eve this was my first contact with the hospital. I was very swiftly 'triaged' and booked to be seen by someone at the UCC. After a very short wait I was seen by a Senior Nurse. I cannot praise enough the professionalism and tact he has shown. Granted, my injury was not at all serious but this gentleman had certainly not treated it as trivial and made sure that my fall had not affected other parts of my leg and hip. Fortunately, I haven't had much contact with hospitals or doctors, though on this occasion more than ever before, I felt treated as a real person rather than a 'patient number'. Therefore, I am extending my sincere commendation to this male nurse but I would also like to praise the other persons with whom I had been in contact since I first entered the hospital.
