"We came out of the surgery non the wiser"

My daughter was getting bruises on her legs and we did not know how she was getting them so I took her to the doctors. The doctor asked both of us individually what we thought was up with her then asked what we wanted her to do about it. I thought you went to the doctors to be told what was up with you and how to treat the condition? In the middle of the consultation she answered her mobile phone and had a conversation with somebody (the conversation was not medical). She then put the phone down and told us to come back if she gets another bruise. So we came out of the surgery non the wiser.
