I have an artificial knee joint which is 13 years old. The joint wore out and had fallen and broke. A Surgeon at Good Hope Hospital saw me at the hospital and told me the above. It would be a big operation and I was left to think about it. In the mean time I went to see a rheumatologist Doctor, who x-rayed my leg and found I not only had a broken joint I also had a broken femur by the knee.
I was told I could not go home. Eventually I went home to wait for the doctor to speak to a Orthopedic Consultant. After a lot of phone calls I ended up in A and E at Sutton Coldfield.
I told Good Hope I had an xray at Cannock. Eventually they saw the xray. The Doctor said there was no break, I said look again YOU CANT MISS THE BREAK. The Doctor did and it WAS broken.
After 13 hours in A AND E I was found a bed in A and E. They had no pillows so I had to use my coat to put under my head and under my leg. There was police in A and E, drunks and someone on drugs. It was late a night, I was very very tired and in a lot of pain, it was very noisy. My family could not sit down anywhere. Eventually I was admitted to a Ward....MORE HORRIFYING STORIES.
