"Post-op nightmare"

About: Leicester General Hospital

My recent experience of LGH will, I hope, be my last. I have no complaints at all about the surgical staff (I had a knee replacement) but the nursing care on Ward 16 was nothing short of appalling. There appeared to be no leadership from senior staff and the attitude of most of the nurses seemed to be that patients were a nuisance to be ignored or in some cases bullied. There were a few exceptions on the staff and frankly I don't know how they tolerate working in such an environment. The food was shockingly bad. All the patients in the bay I was in were reliant on family bringing food in as what we were offered was inedible. In brief, avoid if possible!

Dear Tessa, Thank you for sharing your experience with us, although we are saddened to hear that is it is not all positive. We have passed your kind words about the surgical staff onto the Orthopaedics team, as well as your concerns about the ward staff onto the ward managers and matron. We ask that you please contact matron, yvonne.kenmuir-hogg@uhl-tr.nhs.uk, with further details so she can investigate this further. Any feedback which would allow us to improve the level of care we provide is much appreciated. Kind regards Communications Team Leicester's Hospitals
