"Concern about nutrition"

I am concerned about the apparent lack of consideration for inpatients nutritional needs. My daughter has been an inpatient for several weeks now and I fear that she would be malnourished had we not made sure that we take in additional food to supplement her diet. For breakfast she is offered cereal or toast( one day the catering assistant said, "Sorry we only have one slice of toast left".) She has to avoid milk with her iron tablets so can't select cereal. Sometimes there is orange juice available but not every day. Nothing else is available until lunchtime. Staff say that biscuits should be provided on a trolley with tea and coffee but she would have to get out of bed and leave her room to get a drink. Since she is in for bed rest that is not really acceptable. There has not been a single biscuit available in the time she has been there. With lunch she can have a yogurt or a piece of fruit. There are no snacks or fruit available then until dinner.I am not an expert but I cannot see how she can possible consume her 5 a day. In relation to her identified iron deficiency no adjustments have been made to her diet to deal with this. She has been told that her water jug should be regularly replenished but this does not happen. Her medical care has been excellent but a poor diet is not complementing this.
