"My trip to a and e with my 4 year old"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

not happy. we arrived at a and e with my daughter and went to the childs side and were seen within reasonable time by the first nurse. but then we were told to move to another waiting room which wasnt a waiting room at all it had 6 chairs for at least 15 people crammed into it. ive never seen a waiting room with a curtain and a bed in it before. we were told there where 5 people in front of us.. but when we were in the childs department we were second in line? we decided to leave. . terrible

Dear Anonymous Many thanks for your feedback on your experience of our children's area within the Urgent Care service at Royal Blackburn Hospital, and thank-you for taking the time to do so. I will make sure your concerns about the waiting area within the children's area are passed onto the team and I am very sorry that your recent experience with us wasn't what you expected as we always strive to deliver safe, personal & effective care. You will appreciate that the department has been experiencing extremely high demand recently as with other national Emergency Departments, and staff are working to prioritise patients according to need; I am unsure if this is what affected your change of position in the queue but do hope that your daughter is recovering. If you would like to talk through your visit to us with one of our Patient Experience team so we can understand the bits of your experience that made this such a poor visit for you we would really value this so that we can try to improve things for every patient visiting our hospitals and services. You can either contact me (Wendy Stobbs) on 01254 734471/ 01254 733704 or email me on wendy.stobbs@elht.nhs.uk. If you would like to share your experience in confidence with an independent organisation please contact Healthwatch BwD on 01254 504985 or info@healthwatchblackburnwithdarwen.co.uk Or if you prefer you can discuss further any concerns you may have about our services with our East Lancashire Hospitals Trust Customer Relations team on 01254 733700 or complaints@elht.nhs.uk who can advise you of your options in raising these concerns further. Many thanks again for taking the time to comment Wendy Stobbs, Patient Experience Facilitator
