"I was handled by friendly, polite efficiency"

About: University College Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I arrived for my sigmoidoscopy at 10.50am for a 11.00am appointment. I was greeted with a smile (very important) and sent along to another reception desk. Again, a good greeting, this time by the nurse who looked after me throughout. Mary was kind, thoughtful and by the time I actually went into theatre, she was apologetic for the length of time I had to wait. Eventually I was wheeled in about 1.30pm. The nurse and doctor were very rushed. The doctor rattled out his questions and I had no chance of even giving a sentence. I appreciated his wishing to catch up on time but a gentle manner in keeping with the rest of the team would have been welcomed. I was then sedated. The aftercare was good with Mary again in attendance. More information and findings would have been helpful, although my overall thoughts are that this whole procedure was handled by friendly, polite efficiency.
