I was initially seen as a 'referral out-patient' some years ago dermatologically for a very Severe, Acute 'flare' type Allergic Response // 'global' atopy, which was a reaction to quite a long course of high-dose antibiotic; the Therapy causing the dermatological 'secondary' atopic symptoms was most necessary for eradication, or at least control of severely infected DM-2 related 'Leg-Ulcers' [bilateral] -- so it was needful to be given a thoro' Eval by a Derm Consultant. I was seen to very Professionally, and quite quickly at St. Mary's derm-op Clinic. The Clinical Review, Care & Treatment from the 'Sisters' to the Sp-Reg were All in the high quality category in most all respects. Because of the nature of the condition & the need for further specialized testing I was then passed on to the care of one of the more Senior consultants.. The consultant was a very seasoned professional with excellent pt-clinician interface skills; clearly she was very experienced in dealing with Pts in various stages of Very Uncomfortable 'situations' and she put me at my ease in a very personable manner. My own studies & fields of endeavour 'criss-cross' several of the aspects of her specialty so i could see her grasp of her subject was impressive, both intensive & up-to-date. Anyone who has had to suffer the rigours of any form of severe large-surface area 'itching' knows just how terribly uncomfortable & maddening it can be... Firstly therefore, she took the extremely annoying & distressing symptoms in hand & dealt with them; the relief there was most welcome! She then proceeded to continue the 'work-up' in depth according to the testing and other investigations that were needful. I have been under her care for some years now both active treatment & in the sense of 'ongoing-monitoring' - the consultant care is excellent as is the General clinical environs of the dermatology Dept at St. Mary's within the Imperial Trust. The OP-Dept is clean & neatly kept; clinical attention is prompt & respectful well-integrated & the sense of teamwork is evident - I would not hesitate to recommend to the care of this Dept. any Patient` suffering from conditions requiring dermatological work-up/review, or care - whether primary, or secondary. I could see that the aspect of the Imperial Trust as an instrument for high quality upper-division & specialist medical education was very evident
