I am writing this review after 2 disappointing stays on ward A6, as a healthcare worker myself I was disgusted at the quality of care and respect for dignity given by the nursing staff. On my first stay 18th December 2014. After gastric surgery I was unable to pass water after drinking nearly 2liters and 1liter IV, I complained of pain and the feeling of need to go to the nurse and asked for a bladder scan, the nurse who did this did not use the equipment correctly and when I told her she stormed of in a temper. I told this to the healthcare and her response was go to sleep and just wet the bed. I went on to be incontinent due to overflow 3 times in the night. This was extreml embarrassing for a 42 year old. I lied to the staff the next day saying I felt fine too go home so I could get off the ward. On my second stay from 31st December 2014 till present 2nd January 2015 my initial care was excellent from A&E staff I was seen very quickly and was allocated a ward within 2 hours of arriva. Ward A6 was a different case altogether. Despite informing the staff when admired that I was on a special diet (fork mashable) and that I was only able to take small tablets or soluble (wich I brought with me). Everytime I was given paracetamol the nurse gave me tablets and I had to tell them I couldn't swallow tablets and I had my own prescribed by the hospital. Every meal I was offered unsuitable food and on one occasion when asleep I was left a chicken drumstick and sausage roll. When I told the ward manager I couldn't eat it she said save it you might want it later, I then told her I was not allowed to eat it as I am unable to swallow it and she just walked away
"Ward A6 appalling"
