"New Year's Eve dash"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

Mum is undergoing chemo at Royal Marsden Sutton. If she suddenly spikes a high temp she had to contact local A&E. Temp high, ? Due to infection, so the journey began. Spoke to key nurse at Marsden, no beds available so referred to local A@E to get Mum checked over. Staff were expecting us, put into a room on our own as Mum can't be with people who have colds etc. Saw senior registrar, bloods, x-rays etc ordered. At all times the staff were courteous, professional, and very thorough taking medical history. Liased with the Marsden when clinical decisions had to be made. Luckily, After being given a thorough check up she was allowed home. We were in and out of the dept within 4 hours. The staff and dept were very busy. Despite this, the treatment Mum received was 1st class, from the domestic staff, porters and medical staff. I would highly recommend this hospital dept. During Mums illness we have as you can imagine been inside several hospitals. apart from the Marsden this dept is up there with the best. A big thank you to you all, you made a very stressful situation for both Mum and Dad much more bearable.

Thank you belatedly for your feedback on the attendance of your mum in our Emergency Department. It is good to hear that she was assessed promptly and with the appropraite liaison with her team at the Royal Marsden which reduced her stress and that of the family.
