"wasnt the best experience"

I had my son at jessops just under 6 weeks ago. I cant really fault most of the people I came into contact with they were fantastic. Unfortunately there is some things we were not happy with. I felt my consultant did not listen to me or my preferances or the fact by the time I was 36 weeks I could barely walk without being in agonising pain and was surviving on 2 to 3 hours sleep (not ideal when I have an active 3 year old) in fact his words were 'most pregnant women dont sleep so im not concerned'. My sons estimated weight at 36 weeks was 7lb 12oz not once was I offered further scans to monitor his size or position (later had a baby boy weighing 10lb 10.5oz via section but thats another issue). I was admitted with high blood pressure twice...the first time I was in daycare and they were great...luckily things calmed down and I was able to return home that day only to be readmitted 4 days later. I spent 14 hours in triage where it was decided I was to have an emergency section only for that to be changed to a planned one the following morning and I was finally taken to a ward in the early hours of the morning. The planned section was then cancelled and it was decided I was ro be monitored instead which was fine and the care I received was second to none. My obs were taken regularly and monitored, medication was started and I was able to rest. I returned home at the end of that week and returned for the day of my elective section (one day past my due date) I was ready for surgery and waited for 7 hours to be told it wasnt going to happen that day. I can appreciate things happen out of the hospitals control but by that point I was desperate to have my baby as the pain was becoming unbearable. I was admitted again in the hope I could have a section the next day. At 7.30am the following morning I was told to get ready for theatre. My husband rushed in and 10 mins after walking through the door we were told again it was a no go. They offered me a slot the next day and despite several times stating in previous days the 20th was not an option due to other family commitments with my in laws ( they looked after our daughter). By that point I felt so frustrated I took the slot knowing it meant going into that operation alone! My section went well...the team were fantastic and kept me at ease and relaxed as best they could. One of the ward coordinators had even offered to scrub up and come in with me so I wouldn't be alone but I had a student midwife by my side who was amazing. The only dampner on that was when it was completed the first words out of another consultants mouth were ' we're done now but you really need to loose some weight' I know I do but there is a time and a place for statements like that. ..immediately aftet major surgery is not one of them. I have further issues but have run out of letters almost. I know the hospital did their best but there could be improvements
