My blood sample was sent to this hospital's lab on the 18th December 2014 for thyroid function and ferritin as well as complete blood count. I have not been feeling at all well and I was expecting a phone call from my practice regarding these results, only to be given a printout of the complete blood count and not the two I need. It was only when I received a phone call from my practice six days later that my results were abnormal and my GP wanted to speak to me about them. The earliest appointment available to see my GP was on the 14th January - almost three weeks away - too long for me to find out what dose I need to be on and if my medication needs changing. I appreciate the time was near the holidays, but surely a hospital lab should be prepared to get in extra staff when the usual workers there are away for Christmas/New Year? Had the results have gotten back to the practice sooner I may have been able to see my GP before this year was out. Shameful amount of time to wait for results when I am not well.
