My partner, Berry, has just been discharged from Torbay. She had a burst appendix and from the paramedics, through A and E, EAU4 and finally Allerton Ward the service and care was magnificent. We couldn't fault it. Everybody was kind, thoughtful and considerate. All the staff had a smile on their faces. Nothing was too much trouble. They made Berry feel as though she was a very special patient and her welfare was paramount. It was also obvious that the staff treated all their patients with the same consideration. The burst appendix could have caused numerous complications and the medical staff arranged for many tests and scans to ensure that every possible medical outcome was covered. The doctors were very thorough in their investigations and honest in their prognosis. This enabled Berry to make well informed choices about her treatment. Earlier this year Berry was in with a broken leg followed by DVT (she's had a bad year) and all the departments have that same wonderful, caring ethos. A big, big thank you to Torbay Hospital.
