"No more falling over!"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

All my life I have worked next to noisy machines, except when I was with the Kings Regiment where I worked with weapons (very noisy). When I was made redundant at work I became a carer for disabled wife. I did not know I was hard of hearing, as I think it was a slow way to hearing little, (if you know what I mean). I realised this after going to the doctor about my balance (I kept falling over). He checked me over and decided it was my ears. So he made an appointment with audiology at Macclesfield District Hospital. After a few tests they found out I was nearly deaf in my left ear and my right ear was deteriorating too! I was given hearing aids and now I can hear things I had forgotten about, like the clock ticking, birds singing but most of all I now have my television at 14 instead of 40 and I can hear my Elvis cd’s very clearly. I would like to thank my doctor and of course audiology for all the kindness and quickness and of course bringing noise back into my life. And no more falling over!
