Hello, I frequently have to attend the hospital with my 9 year old son who has an on going health issue. Every time we have been in the last 4 months we have had great trouble finding a parking space and finding a machine that accepts payment; often we have to try at least two and with a child who is having treatment it is extremely difficult walking from one machine to another sometimes I have my younger son who is five years old, with me and it is extremely difficult to get out of the hospital, even just to pay. I appreciate it is too late to redesign the building; we have to walk a long way to the children's unit. I feel the way the building is designed patients are in there for longer than they need to be. And while nothing can now be done about this, it is possible to do something about getting all the machines working so people are not sitting in a queue to get in, then to get out. What ever time of day we have an appointment, we always have this issue. It is so difficult to negotiate the car park and the building. However, the care is the best, the doctors we have met have taken their time with us on every occasion, making sure we understand what is happening, what we can expect to happen next. It is the only reason I keep coming here, I have even thought of getting him referred to Birmingham because it is so hard to deal with getting in and out of UHCW. Also frequently the barriers aren't working. The parking staff do their best but the management is hampering their efforts to work with equipment which does not work.
