(My Father wrote this letter and asked me to post it here)
At a time when parts of the NHS are being assailed for not meeting targets, it is fitting that I should place on record my own recent experience. I am 84 years old and on a Sunday morning at 8. 30 am I was taken to the A & E Department at Grantham Hospital with acute breathing difficulties. In less than 30 minutes I was examined by medical staff, given an ECG and X-Ray and transferred to the Emergency Admissions Unit after being diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation. Three days later I was discharged after receiving what can only be described as a level of care and treatment that was beyond excellence. During my stay I was examined by the Consultants and a Cardiologist and prescribed a range of medication that has improved my well-being immeasurably.
The medical, nursing, catering, pharmaceutical and indeed all other staff, particularly Dr Kenny and nurses Louise, Emily, Caroline and Amy (other names I can't remember but no less important) are all so efficient and dedicated and I am truly grateful for the care and attention I received.
In my opinion, Grantham Hospital stands as a beacon of excellence in healthcare within the NHS, and my sincere thanks go to all those who devote their lives to the care of others.
