Following orthopaedic surgery I was treated in three ward areas of two hospitals for problems following surgery (Royal Hallamshire and Northern General). It is impossible to fill in the brief tick box questionnaire because are varied so much. On the whole nursing care was very good with respect for the patient’s individuality. One exception was found on an admission ward with poor standards of nursing care. These were due to imposed practises. Cleanliness was much improved in both hospitals. Medical care was good too. There were some very caring doctors. I found the information and decision making very good. The service has been there when needed and the GP service has also been very supportive.
