I had an acute sciatica/ slipped disk problem. Went into A&E twice within 1 week. They gave me has and morphine and sent me home. First time the doctor who saw me was deeply unsympathetic, almost hostile. My pain got worse and I ended up at MRI for an MRI. My understanding was that I should get a scan within a few hours. It took Clore to 2 days. When was in agony, screaming and crying. Eventually I was given morphine and totally abandoned for about 3 hours with no explanation of what was happening. When I got on the ward, there were endless changes of staff who didn't know anything of my history. All had different information, my requests were ignored and I could barely get any sleep at night with new admissions and patients calling for nurses, crying, screaming all night. They eventually did the scan but because they're not a specialist spinal hospital they had to have all questions referred to another hospital in Salford. This lack f communication, confusion and basic lack of care from some of the staff, drove me to me edge of a total mental breakdown. Luckily, a sympathetic friend rescued me and I discharged myself. Within less than 24 hours of being home, I can walk, do most things for myself. My main issue is the mental scars left by the MRI experience. Every time I think about it I start to shake and cry.
"Total chaos"
