"Short stay after operation.... worst ever Victoria..."

I had a life changing operation under the hands of a great surgeon and was kept in for several nights, I have no issues with the consultant and his team, but the aftercare once on the ward was beyond disgraceful. I was one of the first down for my operation and was back in recovery by 1PM, despite my wife and family ringing for updates, they where mis-fed information as to me and my op and my recovery, and the staff where abrupt and rude beyond belief. I was in recovery as stated by 1PM, then kept there until midnight as they could not find me a ward or a bed! so in effect I had been in the same hospital bed for 16hrs! a very uncomfortable bed as well it must be said, as coming in and out of awareness due to a general anaesthetic. I was originally sent to Coyle ward, must say this was ok normal standard of NHS ways and traits, on what was to be my last night (my decision) I was transferred to Victoria ward, oh dear what a big mistake. Utter confusion reigned and there where lots of nurses and ancillary staff wondering around as if to be looking to keep busy, the ward had 6 people including myself. One man had a radio turned up loud, another had a different station on another channel and was competing to see who could get the loudest, then a gentleman with a TV right next to me, with the volume high above the 2 x radios! The day staff as stated where wondering around in what appeared a daze, its was only to get worse, what appeared to be agency staff came in on nights and despite several patients asking for assistance to change bags etc, they where completely ignored so bags and contents where allowed to spill and you can imagine the smell! The nurse decided I was on 2 hourly obs, and despite me trying to sleep through the TV's and radios, kept deliberately shining the light above my bed directly into my eyes, whilst still half asleep! as you may expect I was not very happy about this but despite complaining the nurse proceeded to do it again and again and again, and seemed to be more rough every time. I woke the next morning and my consultant was there and I literally begged him to let me go, to which thankfully they did. As stated I cant fault my consultant or team, but the wards after, the managers at this hospital owe it to patients old and present to investigate fully and find out exactly what is happening instead of sitting in their ivory towers, deliberately blatantly ignoring the problems!
