"Appalling treatment to my Mother who is 84 years..."

About: Royal Oldham Hospital

My Mother spent six weeks in hospital. She was treated in A and E, Orthapeadic ward and the rehabilitation ward. Now A and E were good Orthapeadic mixed opinions about there but the rehab ward A2 her care gradually got worse she was on two weeks and every day she had some horror tale to tell me. The final day was the last straw and convinced me everything she had told me was true. If you have an elderly parent do not let them go on this ward! I am going to put an official complaint in. Animals get treated better than my Mother was on her discharge day. The staff told bare faced lies about my Mother ending up on the floor twice! I had asked and asked for her to be tested on why she cannot move her legs to walk and I was just ignored. A2 despite the fact she ended up on the floor as they transferred her from a chair to a wheel chair, had wrote in her notes she could stand they had to hoist her from the floor to the wheel chair! They then had her sat on the hoist sling in the discharge lounge for 4 hours when the longest she had been out of bed was two hours! Despite my regular complaints my Mother was in agony they said she would have to stand to take pressure off her backside they then removed the hoist sling. It took three people to do that. After several hours the ambulance arrived five people then got her to stand while she was put in the wheel chair. She was then transferred to a care home and because they thought she could stand unaided she went on the floor again and had to be hoisted again. This was because the hospital have not given the care home the correct information. I hope it makes some sense what I have wrote here as I am still very upset what has gone on. My Mother is mentally great her mind is as good as anyone's, she is just deaf. So people tend to say she hasn't heard correctly. Even I had thought that on a couple of occasions but after seeing what went on that day I believe everything. Do not let your elderly parents get the same treatment avoid this place
