"I was admitted to A and E with severe stomach..."

I was admitted to A and E with severe stomach pains on 6 December 2014. The staff in A and E were excellent, as were the night staff in Ward EC31 which I was eventually taken to. However, the day staff who took over on 7 December broke cardinal rules. For instance, I heard them discussing the details of my case and also that of two other patients openly and in megaphone tones. One of the other patients mentioned this to me as she had heard herself being discussed. This is appalling. Also, when I pointed out that two of the hand germ cleansers were empty, a nurse was very offhand and said words to the effect of 'there's another one over there'. (Not good enough. They should all be replenished when empty) The patients in my ward were not offered a mid-morning drink so, around noon I asked if I could have a coffee. I was more of less told I could wait until lunch. I said I was willing to pay for a drink. It later transpired that the morning drinks round people had forgotten our ward. I hesitate to comment on the food that was offered at lunch. Let me just say it was of a poor standard; the worst of any hospital which I have been to. Little consideration seems to be given to the effect on people of the food they eat. I know that hospitals have food budgets but, nonetheless, I would have thought something better could have been produced than what was on offer. I left hospital hungry later that day.
