"Hip replacement problem"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Trauma and Orthopaedics

(as a friend),

My friend went in for a hip replacement 8 weeks ago. During these last 8 weeks her hip has come out 3 times - each time she has been in so much pain and yet the hospital have not done anything about it! She doesn't even move for the hip to come out and for her to be in agony!

The surgeon has put it back in 3 times and this time has said she will get an op but will have to wait a week for an opening - she is in her 80's and should not have to go through this amount on pain in such a short time - its a wonder how she has been able to cope.

While in hospital she has fallen out of bed - as the nurses haven't been able to assist her in going to the toilet despite buzzing for them to come and help her. She has been stuck in the toilet for 45 mins as they forgot about her.

She is now bed bound as any movement could dislocate the hip - it even came out during her sleep and she was made to wait 7 hours before they put it back in. I feel very angry at her level of care.
