"A&E was very busy"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Nephrology

(as the patient),

In April, I went to the emergency admission unit at Royal Hallamshire Hospital due to a kidney infection. It was terrible there. I did have some help because my husband spoke up. Someone came and asked if you needed a paracetemol and went away. One and a half hours later someone else came back and asked the same question again but I wasn’t given any medication. They told me they were too busy and it was a long job and they were too busy to see me. I waited fro the doctor for three hours and when my husband spoke up to complain and then three doctors came quickly. People are there for a reason and there should be more staff. It seemed as if they were just following each other around. Some of the people had been there eight hours in emergency and some three to four hours without a drink offered to them. I was then put onto a ward. I cannot complain about the ward, they were very helpful in the urology department. The only thing was each time I had to leave a sample in the toilet it ended up smelling a lot. I also did not eat much as I was unwell but I could have still been offered a menu.
