"Be careful if you're having an operation!!!!!"

About: Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

I am compelled to write this review. I feel patients need to be informed ( as a loved one has had such a poor experience) that this is a hospital which has performed surgery on patients and not informed them of their full treatment options and choices of where treatment maybe best for them. They have trainee surgeons operating here as it's NHS Foundation Teaching Hospital. The patients in question was not aware of this. This is quite deceptive. One-should be careful they should inform there patients it's a teaching hospital and training surgeons will be operating on them. The patient in question was not aware of this especially when the patient is young and ill-informed. Highly irresponsible of the surgeon in question. They show a lack of respecting the rights of a patient to make an informed considered choice.

Dear Anonymous, hello and good afternoon Thank you for taking the time to tell us of your and your loved one's experiences; I am sorry to learn that we have clearly not delivered our services to you in line with that which we aspire to achieve. Please would you contact the Public and Patient Services team and ask to speak with either myself or my colleague Michelle French so that we can look into things on an in-depth basis? We would love the opportunity to show you that we are a caring organisation that values the feedback our patients and service users give us; and use it to learn from. I would like to reassure you, that although we are as you point out a teaching hospital, at no point does any clinician undertake a procedure or surgery unless they have been agreed fit and competent to do so by our senior Consultant(s). I do recognise it appears we could have communicated a lot more clearly to you and for that I would like to apologise as to do so may have alleviated some of your concern and distress. Our contact details are: 0121 685 4128 o via email at roh-tr.pals@nhs.net I look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes to you and your loved one, Claire Williams, Patient Relations Manager
