"Unsatisfied with A & E"

About: Worthing Hospital

On 08/11/14 i saw an out of hours doctor at this hospital who sent me for further examinations to A & E. I saw the receptionist and then a triage nurse who took my blood pressure. I was in this department for a total of 3Hrs. until my name was called when i was put in a wheelchair and very rapidly taken back to the doctor who had seen me earlier. I was not examined by anyone from A & E and was given no explanation of what was happening to me. I am disgusted with the way i was treated by A & E and hope i never have the misfortune to have to visit this department again.

We are very sorry to hear your feedback about your experience of our A/E department. Whilst there may be a good clinical reason at times for transfers between areas it is very important that this is done only when there is a good rationale and that the reason is fully explained. Attendance at hospital is a very stressful time and it is not acceptable that you were moved to and fro in such a way without any explanation. We have forwarded your posting to the matron for A/E who will review the movement in the department and also share your experience to help staff understand the impact of the decisions they make particularly when communication is so poor. Please accept our apologies for this poor experience.
