"in an emergency it's a nightmare to get to"

About: Southmead Hospital

Needed to get to southmead quickly due to a heart condition. Ambulance came very quickly but was stuck in traffic due to the hospital being in the worst possible location. Took 40 mins to drive 2 miles.. If frenchay was not closed i would have been there in 10 mins. If you live in downend, kingswood,Yate etc then I wish you well as in an emergency you will not be able to reach hospital quickly. Southmead road is impassible. And to make things worse if you have a child who is very ill southmead won't take them. As you have to drive into the city centre which takes up to an hour. It's almost criminal to spend 450 million on a new hospital which people can't reach in an emergency. Breaks my heart that there was once a great accessible a and e service in bristol and it's now been destroyed. When I was admitted there was a choir in the hospital and coffee shops etc. I dont care about that. I care about getting help when needed. And that is no longer avialible. So sad
