"Pharmacy - Just lets the hospital down - again"

About: University Hospital (Coventry)

Again, stuck waiting for the simple delivery of medicine from the Pharmacy to the ward. It would be quicker for me to get the prescription from the doctor, take my child, go home, have a cup of tea, clean the house and go and pick it up from local Chemist. Unfortunately we are not allowed. This is a complete waste of resource - we and other patients are using up beds, staff time etc - just to wait for medicine to be delivered, The staff, when asked just accept that the way it is. Yes - I did check, they were not busy.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience at University Hospital, Coventry. I have shared your comments with Pharmacy and they would like to offer their apologies for the wait that you and your child had to endure. The inpatient pharmacy service is different to the outpatient pharmacy provided by Lloyds Pharmacy. According to pharmacy’s records, the day you had to wait was an extremely busy day for prescriptions. The service is continually trying to develop new ways to reduce the time patients have to wait for prescriptions. We apologise that on this occasion it didn’t meet your standards. If you would like to discuss aspects of your care further then please contact the Trust’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0800 028 4203.
