"Care and respect after diagnosed with colon cancer"

About: Northern General Hospital / Colorectal surgery

(as the patient),

I had excellent care and friendly service from my own GP, hospital medical doctors, surgeon and oncologist. I was diagnosed with colon cancer at the end of January and I was operated 4 weeks later.

I had 18 nodes all cancerous removed but sorry to say a couple of the nodes in the bowel could not be removed. I was transferred to the Weston Park Hospital and I will start a double chemo soon. I have had excellent care from doctors, surgeon, oncologists and nursing staff at the Hallamshire, Northern General and Weston Park Hospital.

Do not be afraid of having to go and see any these people, they treat you with the utmost care and respect. Everything is explained to the patient in layman terms and they are very caring. I also had a district nurse visiting me when I came home from hospital. These ladies treated you with respect and were caring.
