"Great stay at my local Hospital - don't believe..."

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

After suffering with Gall stones for what seemed an age I finally got my op date in October for the removal of my gall bladder. After hearing all the horror stories that everyone insisted on telling me about the Royal Bolton Hospital (even when not asked for their opinion) I was delighted to say that I found my hospital stay a pleasant experience. From admittance I was talked to in a professional yet friendly manner and when I told them I was nervous about the general anaesthetic I was quickly put at ease. I didn't need to worry, I came around later that afternoon and was gutted I'd worked myself up into a worry! I would have no concerns about visiting this hospital again in the future for any types of procedures. Even before my operation I had visited A & E on a number of occasions due to my Gall Stones and I was always well looked after. Personally I feel this hospital gets a lot of bad reviews and I just wanted to give my side. The NHS has faced so many cutbacks and the nursing staff are run ragged looking after the patients. On my ward the nurses seemed to be filling in endless paperwork whist stood in the middle of a ward seeing to patients at the same time. This seems to be the norm now for them and I'm sure if we reverted back to ward sisters etc these nurses would have more time to look after each individual patient rather than pressurised to fill in forms in triplicate! I think there are some very good people still working for the NHS within our hospitals, don't get me wrong I know there are also some 'not so good' staff too, but that is the same in whichever industry you may use, but we should be proud that although our NHS is suffering due to cutbacks etc we are still leaps ahead of countries who charge for medical services. We are very lucky! Therefore after my ramblings I would like to conclude: - The Royal Bolton Hospital was great - I had no issues, The food was yummy and the staff were lovely! If you need an operation get in there - you will be fine.

It always seems that the few who have an issue shout louder than those who are content, so it is lovely that you have taken the time to post this. Local people have a lot to be proud of in their local hospital so thank you for this reassuring post.

People are often quicker to complain than compliment so we are really grateful to receive some useful feedback that puts the other side of the story as you say. The NHS may not be absolutely perfect but our staff here in Bolton really try their best to care well for patients. We're glad this was the case with you. Thank you.
