"Emergency Admissions Ward and H D U./Critical Care"

About: Freeman Hospital

I have just arrived home from must be the most traumatic experience I have had. My Dad aged 88 years was admitted to the E.A.U Freeman Hospital with pains in his right leg. The care and attention he was given, right from admission, was beyond and above the call of duty. We were treated with dignity and respect. The consultant took time to sit and explain very thoroughly to both my parents what would happen before during and after an operation needed for my Dad. The registrar did the same as did the consultant Anaesthetist. The young Doctor initially treating my Dad and the wonderful Nurses and clerk(who so kindly made me a cup of tea when I was spotted having a cry in the corridor) on the ward were so kind in an extremely traumatic time for us. My Dad had his right leg amutated late last evening. He is recovering in Critical Care ward 37. We were allowed to see him at 3am when we thought we might not be able to, we all appareciate that gesture so much, especially my mum(age 84 yrs). The following weeks will be a long emotional journey for us all as a close family we will pull together and help my parents through this, but without the empathy and support received from everyone we came into contact with it would have been more difficult. A huge thank you to the team from Mr Olley's family. Brilliant care and committment.Thank you so very much.
