I have had several procedures over the years, some carried out privately but most carried out at the Royal Hospital in Winchester and I honestly can't find anything to fault them on. The staff are professional, caring and friendly, they make sure you know exactly what is going to happen and are discreet and respectful. The wards and surrounding areas are clean and bright and cleaned regularly. I stayed overnight and it was so quiet that I got a really good sleep and the beds were adjustable so I was able to get into a comfortable position. My pain relief was very well managed so I was in very little discomfort and the wonderful anaesthetist really listened to me when I told him that I usually reacted badly to anaesthetics and he gave me something to help, so for the first time I wasn't sick afterwards and I didn't have a migraine like I normally do, which was amazing. Having surgery can be very scary, and although I know what's going to happen to me and that I will be taken care of, it's still a big thing to go through, so I'm grateful to everyone there for making my recent stay so bearable. The Registrar came to see me early on the morning after my operation and explained exactly what had happened and she was soon followed by a Breast Care nurse who arranged a follow up appointment and gave me clear instructions on looking after my boobs. This meant that after a very welcome bath I was free to go. I know if I have any problems I will be able to speak to the Breast Care nurses, but three days after surgery I'm feeling very happy that it's all over and thanks to the skill of the wonderful surgeon, my boobs look much better so I'm not anticipating any problems, but if I did I know I would be listened to.
"Surgery made bearable!"
