On Friday I was taking my husband to the car when he fell. He had a stroke a few years ago and his walking is not too good – he also has dementia. He is quite a big hefty man and I am unable to help him get back up without assistance from the paramedics – this is the first time he has fallen, I've needed to call the paramedics previously when he has slipped out of his chair.
The paramedic, Gerry, was great, he had a lovely calming way in which he treated my husband who can get a bit agitated due to the dementia. He got my husband back on his feet and into the house where he was able to do a more thorough examination checking his blood pressure and sugar levels. He found that my husband had a nasty graze on his elbow from the fall, Gerry cleaned it up and dressed it.
I wanted to thank the paramedics for their help and support, particularly Gerry who came to our rescue on Friday.
