"Orthodontic team do an amazing job"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital / Maxillo-Facial surgery

(as the patient),

As a patient I have been receiving treatment for a severe and complex open bite and I have been well known to the orthodontic team for nearly 4years now. Every visit I have always been kept informed about my progress in great detail by the positive and kind staff. my consultant Mr John Scholey has been fantastic, he has worked extremely hard and spent a lot of time and effort in making a huge improvement on my life. I had a day case operation back in 2011 which closed my bite half way and then 3 weeks ago I went through with double jaw surgery under another wonderful consultant Mr. Pearce under the oral and maxillofacial department. The work they do is incredible and they deserve endless amounts of credit. The positive and caring attitude of ALL the staff has kept me going even at times when I was fed up. All questions were answered and I was constantly seen by my consultant and doctors during my stay in hospital which made me feel very assured and taken care of. The recovery of jaw surgery has been intense but wow what a difference it makes to someone who had such a complex problem. I am still receiving treatment at the moment but I felt the orthodontic and maxfax team needed to see what an amazing job they do.

Response from University Hospitals of North Midlands

Dear 'Chelseaa'

Many thanks for the very positive feedback, we are very proud at UHNM to provide the very highest level of care for all our patients.

It means a lot to us that you are pleased with the service and this is a testament to the fantastic team approach between orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery that the long and complex pathway of care achieves world class results in surgery and orthodontics.

As with all treatment like this is it takes a dedicated and highly skilled team but it also needs a patient committed to looking after their braces and attending appointments well over a long period and so we thank-you for being so engaged with your treatment'.
