My son 20 months old has been poorly for 7days onwards. Our local medical practice had given us a brilliant service, but as our son was very dehydrated, due to not eating or drinking for several days, our doctor sent him down to raigmore hospital to get him on a drip to build him up, as he was very lifeless and very dry.
I don’t think that the children’s ward in raigmore offered us a very good service. We sat there from 7pm to 10pm, with a young child who wasn’t well and at all happy. We had not seen a doctor and were left in a ward, sitting waiting for something to happen. My husband and I persevered in trying to get our son to drink and he eventually did for us. I complained and asked what was taking so long, but in nicer words. They said, doctor will be here when he can, but the doctors were in the middle of a change over. Eventually, we said enough was enough and took our soon on another 2hour journey to take fluids and to rest in his own surroundings. Nurse didn’t seem to care that we had given up and were going home. She said, and I quote, “go if you want”. I feel they did not care why we were there, or even about my son who had been ill. That was our first time our son was admitted and I can say I wouldn’t want him to go back there again.
