At around 12.15pm I had chest pain and my heart was beating too fast. I called the local doctors but it was closed. So I was put through to the emergency doctors and they suggested I called NHS direct who arranged for a paramedic and ambulance to come take me to hospital. The paramedic came within two minutes and an ambulance within three. They took me to Northern General A&E and a team of doctors and nurses were waiting there to treat me. They were all very kind, thoughtful, caring and gave me excellent care. Within one hour of me calling the doctor I was in hospital receiving care. They stabilised me and then allowed my friend to come in and sit with me. They kept monitoring me the whole time. All the staff were excellent from the doctors to the axillaries. I had to wait for a blood test to see if I had had a heart attack. I was brought cups of tea and some sandwiches. I was given great care and went home in the late evening. A couple of days later I was taken in again with pain but not the same problem. I was sent home later and the doctor called the house to see if I was alright. The follow up care was excellent. I had an echo cardiogram done by a young man who was very caring and discreet. Excellent treatment overall and I have nothing but praise.
"Nothing but praise for everyone involved in my care"
