"Wellington Road Surgery: Thank god for the NHS"

About: Shropshire and Staffordshire

(as the patient),

From the time I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in May I could not have had better treatment. Thank god for the NHS. I consider myself lucky in so many ways. I live in Newport so I don’t have to hang about for taxis. The AVIVA 48l bus is every half hour. The surgery in Wellington road is within the range of my mobility scooter. The roads I need to use are 95% usable in a bad winter.

The paper work I have been given to read and keep, would reassure anyone that having diabetes is not the end of everything. I was merely 87 when I was diagnosed with it, I knew people who had to have injections, I have injections every day, and they have done that for years. So far I have been told to be careful – I live on my own and still do all my own work. I still feel the same health wise. Before I never went to the doctors unless it was something I could not cure myself. Now I will have regular health check-ups. Thank god for the NHS.
