"Appalling service"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

I have been trying to get a morning appointment without success - I took time off work for an afternoon appointment only to find when I got there that the clinic had been cancelled and nobody had told me. The receptionist said letters had been sent out by an outside contractor but I never received one even after the appointment date. It is difficult to get through on the phone and I have now received another afternoon appointment which I am unable to attend, and it is at the Conquest which is too far for me to travel. The advertising slogan "Your NHS, Your Choices" is a farce. The choice seems to be at the convenience of the staff not the patients.

We are sorry for the delay in responding to the issues you have raised regarding organising your Gynaecology appointment at Eastbourne DGH and that you were not notified about a cancelled clinic. Please accept our sincere apologies for your poor experience and any inconvenience caused. Your experience has clearly fallen short of the high quality service we try and provide to all our patients and we have forwarded your comments to the central administration team to look into. If you still have an outstanding issue organising your appointment, we would suggest you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) who will liaise with Trust staff on your behalf. They can be contacted on 01323 435886 or by email at: esh-tr.PALSE@nhs.net
