"Staff were kind and sympathetic"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was treated for high temperature 36 hours after ERCP for a sphincterotomy at QMC. I found the staff from nurses to doctors very kind and sympathetic. They also paid good attention to detail. The cleanliness in running the colorectal ward was very good. All the staff were extremely kind there. I am in a private medical insurance scheme and I would have been in a different hospital had I not been admitted as an emergency. All the nurses were just as sympathetic as in the private sector. However, the food wasn’t particularly appetising but it is difficult to cater in such a very large organisation. The washrooms, bearing in mind the type of ward I was in, sometimes ended up in an unpleasant state. Antibiotics were prescribed by the registrar at around 10.45pm but were not given to me until 1.10pm the following day. In a different situation couldn’t this have been life threatening, i.e. septicaemia?
