"Hip operation cancelled"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was recently admitted to ward 14 at Doncaster Royal Infirmary requiring urgent hip surgery. I was admitted to the ward for pain relief as my hip was crumbling. After a discussion with the anaesthetist I was informed that due to other health problems I had only a 50% chance of surviving the surgery. I asked if I could go home for a couple of days to discuss this with my partner. This was on a Thursday with the operation due on the following Monday. I received a phone call on the Friday at home telling me my operation was of and that they wanted me to have the operation at Leeds. They also told me they had given my bed away and asked if I could stand the pain and stay at home. Now two weeks later I am still waiting.
